Spread the Word! Promote Your Blog!

I know when I first started blogging, I wasn’t sure on how to get people to follow my posts or how to get my blog to pop up when someone Googled it. After taking a college course that had a mandatory assignment that I had to create and maintain a blog that had to be completely original and had to be written with no more than 250 words (killed me every time) and had to be written in a journalistic AP style, I learned a few tricks to get my blog out there and on the lips of all.

First of all, I found out that by adding your blog to Technorati, more people will know of your blog and will be able to follow and tell other people. Here’s a post on how to add your blog to Technorati. It’s quick and free, so it’s a win win deal.

Second, I created a Facebook page for my blog and invited a lot of my friends to check it out and like it.

Thirdly, I created a Twitter for my blog.

The cool thing about having both a Twitter and a Facebook page for my blog is that my blog theme has the option to add direct links to the pages so that my followers can check out my posts and tweets that aren’t on the blog itself.

There are other ways to promote your blog like making advertisements and fliers and such, but the best way to spread the word that I have found out is to go out and tell people. Then, once they are interested, mention the Twitter and Facebook page.

You can also add a blog roll to your blog and put your del.icio.us link to the blog.

Another awesome way to promote your blog is by linking to other blogger’s blogs and commenting on them. I also like to add a related articles section on the bottom of my post (see below).

I hope this has been beneficial to you all who are fellow bloggers! Thanks for reading!
